Shut down the computer
Unplug the power cable
Remove the battery if applicable
Press and hold the power button for a few seconds
Open the computer case or access panel
Ground yourself to discharge static electricity
Locate the RAM slots
Release the clips on both sides of the RAM module
Remove the old RAM module
Align the notch on the new RAM with the slot
Insert the new RAM firmly until the clips lock into place
Reattach the access panel or case
Reconnect the power cable and battery if removed
Power on the computer
Check that the system recognizes the new RAM
