Shut down your Mac
Turn it on and immediately press and hold the Shift key
Release the Shift key when you see the login window
Log in to your Mac
If prompted, log in again
To confirm Safe Mode, check for “Safe Boot” in the menu bar or use System Information
For Apple silicon Macs, shut down the Mac
Press and hold the power button until “Loading startup options” appears
Select your startup disk
Press and hold the Shift key
Click Continue in Safe Mode
Release the Shift key when the Mac finishes starting up
