Gather the correct oil, oil filter, wrench, drain pan, funnel, jack, and jack stands
Park on a level surface and let the engine cool
Set the parking brake and turn off the engine
Raise the vehicle if needed and secure it with jack stands
Place the drain pan under the oil drain plug
Remove the drain plug and let the old oil drain completely
Reinstall and tighten the drain plug
Remove the old oil filter
Lubricate the new filter gasket with a small amount of fresh oil
Install the new oil filter and tighten it properly
Remove the oil filler cap
Add the correct amount and type of new oil
Reinstall the oil filler cap
Start the engine and let it run briefly
Check for leaks around the drain plug and oil filter
Turn off the engine and wait a few minutes
Check the oil level with the dipstick
Add more oil if needed
Dispose of the used oil and filter properly
