Use a charger specifically designed for the exact lithium cell chemistry
Check the cell’s rated charge voltage and charge current from the datasheet
Verify the cell is undamaged, not swollen, and not overheated before charging
Connect the charger with correct polarity
Charge using constant-current/constant-voltage method when required by the cell type
Set the charge current within the manufacturer’s recommended limit
Stop charging when the cell reaches its specified full-charge voltage
Do not exceed the maximum charge voltage
Monitor temperature during charging
Stop charging immediately if the cell becomes hot, swells, leaks, or smells unusual
Charge in a fire-resistant area away from flammable materials
Use a protection circuit or battery management system when applicable
Do not leave the cell unattended while charging
Do not charge a frozen, deeply damaged, or physically compromised cell
Store and charge cells at the recommended ambient temperature
Disconnect the charger after charging is complete
