Unplug the Blackstone and let it cool completely
Scrape off loose rust and debris with a metal scraper or grill brush
Wash the surface with warm water and mild dish soap
Rinse and dry thoroughly with clean towels
Apply a thin layer of cooking oil to the rusty areas
Scrub the rust with steel wool or a grill stone
Wipe away loosened rust and residue
Repeat scrubbing and oiling until the rust is removed
Heat the griddle to dry it completely
Apply a thin, even coat of cooking oil over the entire cooking surface
Heat the griddle until the oil smokes, then let it cool
Repeat seasoning several times
Store the Blackstone in a dry place with a cover
Re-oil the surface after each use to prevent future rust
