How To Clean Carburetors?

Turn off the engine and let it cool completely

Disconnect the battery

Shut off the fuel supply

Remove the air filter and intake components

Take photos of the carburetor before disassembly

Disconnect fuel lines, vacuum lines, and linkages

Remove the carburetor from the engine

Drain any remaining fuel from the carburetor

Disassemble the carburetor carefully

Remove jets, needles, floats, gaskets, and small parts

Place metal parts in carburetor cleaner

Spray carburetor cleaner through all passages and ports

Use compressed air to blow out all openings

Clean jets and small passages with soft wire or carburetor brushes

Wipe down the exterior of the carburetor

Inspect gaskets, O-rings, and seals for damage

Replace worn or damaged parts

Reassemble the carburetor

Reinstall the carburetor on the engine

Reconnect all lines, linkages, and the battery

Start the engine and check for leaks

Adjust idle and mixture settings as needed
