Blot up as much urine as possible with paper towels or a clean cloth
Do not rub the area
Rinse the spot with cool water
Blot again to remove excess moisture
Apply an enzymatic cleaner made for pet urine
Let the cleaner sit for the time listed on the label
Blot or air-dry the area
Repeat treatment if the odor or stain remains
Wash removable fabric items according to the care label
Use a black light to find hidden urine spots
Avoid ammonia-based cleaners
For carpets, clean the padding if the urine soaked through
For hard floors, clean and dry the area thoroughly
If odor persists, repeat with an enzymatic cleaner
Keep the cat away from the area until fully dry
