Wipe the area clean and dry it completely
Place a clean cotton cloth over the ring
Use a warm iron on low heat for a few seconds at a time
Check frequently and stop as soon as the ring fades
Rub a small amount of mayonnaise, petroleum jelly, or mineral oil into the ring
Let it sit for several hours or overnight
Wipe off the residue and buff the wood
Mix baking soda with a little water to form a paste
Gently rub the paste on the ring with a soft cloth
Wipe clean and dry thoroughly
Use a hair dryer on low heat to remove trapped moisture
Keep it moving to avoid damaging the finish
Apply a wood polish or furniture wax after the ring is gone
If the ring remains, lightly buff with very fine steel wool only on finished wood
Test any method on a hidden spot first
Call a furniture refinisher if the stain is deep or the finish is damaged
