Remove the foil or seal from the top of the bottle
Place the bottle on a stable surface
Center the corkscrew tip on the middle of the cork
Twist the corkscrew straight into the cork
Stop before the screw goes all the way through the cork
Position the lever or handle on the bottle lip if using a waiter’s corkscrew
Pull the cork up slowly and steadily
If needed, use a second pull to remove the cork fully
Wipe the bottle neck before pouring
Pour carefully into glasses
