Choose a sunny location with well-drained soil
Remove weeds, grass, and debris from the planting area
Loosen the soil to a depth of 6 to 8 inches
Mix in compost if the soil is poor, heavy, or compacted
Space creeping thyme plants 6 to 12 inches apart
Dig holes slightly larger than each root ball
Place each plant at the same depth it was growing in its container
Backfill with soil and gently firm around the roots
Water thoroughly after planting
Keep the soil lightly moist until the plants are established
Avoid overwatering
Mulch lightly with gravel or a thin layer of organic mulch, keeping it away from stems
Trim plants as needed to encourage spreading
Plant in spring or early fall for best results
