Remove the old fixture or mark the new fan location
Check the attic or ceiling space for clearance
Cut the ceiling opening to match the fan housing
Run electrical cable to the fan location
Install a switch if needed
Mount the fan housing to the joist or support frame
Connect the wiring according to the manufacturer instructions
Attach the ductwork to the fan outlet
Vent the duct to the exterior
Seal duct joints with foil tape
Secure the fan grille or cover
Restore power and test the fan
Check for proper airflow and noise
Seal any gaps around the ceiling opening
