Turn off power at the breaker
Disconnect the old disposal if replacing one
Remove the sink flange and mounting hardware
Install the sink flange with plumber’s putty
Tighten the mounting ring and gasket under the sink
Attach the disposal unit to the mounting ring
Connect the dishwasher drain hose if needed
Connect the drain pipe and trap to the disposal outlet
Tighten all slip nuts and fittings
Connect the electrical wiring or plug in the unit
Secure the strain relief and wire cover
Restore power at the breaker
Run water and test for leaks
Test the disposal operation briefly
Tighten any leaking connections as needed
