Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
Avoid touching your face, especially your mouth, nose, and eyes
Do not share food, drinks, utensils, towels, or personal items
Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces often
Use a bleach-based disinfectant or a product labeled effective against norovirus
Wear disposable gloves when cleaning vomit or diarrhea
Wash contaminated laundry, bedding, and clothes immediately on the hottest cycle
Keep the sick person isolated from others as much as possible
Do not prepare food for others while sick and for at least 48 hours after symptoms stop
Avoid close contact with the sick person
Use separate bathrooms if possible
Discard contaminated food and drinks
Wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly
Cook shellfish and other foods thoroughly
Stay hydrated and rest if you develop symptoms
Seek medical care if there are signs of dehydration or severe illness
