How To Bake Apple Pie?

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C)

Prepare pie crust dough

Peel, core, and slice apples

Mix apples with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and flour

Roll out one pie crust and place it in a pie dish

Add the apple filling

Dot the filling with butter

Cover with the second pie crust or make a lattice top

Seal and crimp the edges

Cut small slits in the top crust if needed

Brush the top with egg wash and sprinkle with sugar if desired

Bake for 15 minutes

Reduce oven temperature to 375°F (190°C)

Bake for 35 to 45 minutes more until the crust is golden and filling is bubbling

Cool before slicing and serving
