Meet Colorado eligibility requirements
Be at least 18 years old
Be a legal resident of Colorado or have a place of employment or practice in Colorado
Be able to read and write English
Not have had a notary commission revoked in the past 10 years
Complete the required notary training
Pass the Colorado notary exam
Obtain a $10,000 surety bond
Purchase notary supplies, including a seal and journal
Submit the notary application online through the Colorado Secretary of State
Pay the required filing fee
Take the oath of office if required
Receive your notary commission
Begin performing notarial acts in compliance with Colorado law
Maintain your journal and seal securely
Renew your commission before it expires
