Meet the eligibility requirements:
Be at least 18 years old
Be a legal resident of Washington State or have a place of employment or practice in Washington
Be able to read and write English
Complete the Washington notary application
Obtain a $10,000 surety bond
Purchase notary supplies:
Official notary seal
Notary journal
Submit the application, bond, and required fee to the Washington State Department of Licensing
Receive your notary commission certificate
Register your signature with the state if required
Begin performing notarial acts in compliance with Washington law
Renew your commission before it expires if you want to continue as a notary
