How To Bring Down A Fever?

Drink plenty of fluids (water, oral rehydration solution, broth)

Rest

Wear lightweight clothing and keep the room comfortably cool

Use a lukewarm sponge bath if needed

Take acetaminophen/paracetamol as directed on the label

Take ibuprofen as directed on the label (if appropriate for you)

Avoid alcohol rubs

Avoid cold baths or ice packs

Do not use aspirin for children or teens

Check the temperature regularly

Seek urgent care if any of these occur: trouble breathing, severe headache with stiff neck, confusion, seizures, non-blanching rash, severe dehydration, persistent vomiting, or worsening condition

Seek medical advice if: fever lasts more than 3 days (adults) or more than 24 hours (infants under 3 months), or fever is 103°F/39.4°C or higher, or you have a weakened immune system, serious chronic illness, or recent travel/exposure concerns

If the person is pregnant, an infant, or a child with fever, follow pediatric dosing guidance and contact a clinician for dosing advice
