Measure the space where the cabinets will go
Decide the cabinet size, style, and layout
Choose materials for the cabinet boxes, doors, and shelves
Gather tools such as saws, drill, clamps, square, tape measure, and sander
Cut the cabinet parts to size
Cut dados, rabbets, or grooves if needed for joinery
Assemble the cabinet box with glue, screws, nails, or joinery
Check that the cabinet is square during assembly
Install the back panel
Build and install shelves, dividers, and supports
Construct the cabinet doors and drawer fronts if needed
Build drawers if the design includes them
Sand all surfaces smooth
Apply edge banding to exposed plywood edges if needed
Prime and paint, stain, or finish the cabinet
Install hinges, drawer slides, handles, and other hardware
Mount the cabinets securely to the wall or base
Adjust doors and drawers for proper alignment
Inspect the finished cabinets for fit and function
