Turn off the garbage disposal switch
Unplug the disposal or turn off the circuit breaker
Wait until the unit is completely stopped
Look underneath the disposal for the reset button
Press the reset button firmly
Restore power to the disposal
Turn on cold water
Test the disposal by switching it on
If it still does not work, check for a jam and clear it safely
If it continues to trip, contact a plumber or electrician
