Measure the air temperature in degrees Fahrenheit or Celsius
Measure the wind speed in miles per hour or kilometers per hour
Use the standard wind chill formula for Fahrenheit: Wind Chill = 35.74 + 0.6215T – 35.75(V^0.16) + 0.4275T(V^0.16)
In the formula, T = air temperature in °F and V = wind speed in mph
Use the standard wind chill formula for Celsius: Wind Chill = 13.12 + 0.6215T – 11.37(V^0.16) + 0.3965T(V^0.16)
In the formula, T = air temperature in °C and V = wind speed in km/h
Substitute the measured values into the correct formula
Calculate the result using order of operations
Use the result as the wind chill temperature
Apply wind chill only when temperatures and wind speeds are within the formula’s valid range
Use a wind chill chart or calculator if you do not want to calculate it manually
