Gather a pumpkin, a sharp knife or pumpkin carving tool, a spoon, a marker, and a bowl
Wash and dry the pumpkin
Cut a lid around the stem at an angle
Remove the lid and set it aside
Scoop out the seeds and stringy pulp
Scrape the inside walls until smooth
Draw your design on the pumpkin with a marker
Cut along the design lines carefully
Push out the cut pieces from the inside
Clean up any rough edges
Place a candle or LED light inside
Put the lid back on if desired
