Use a humane live trap designed for small rodents
Place bait such as peanut butter, sunflower seeds, oats, or nuts inside the trap
Set the trap along walls, near burrows, or where chipmunk activity is seen
Hide the trap with leaves or place it under light cover to reduce suspicion
Check the trap frequently, at least every few hours
Wear gloves when handling the trap
Release the chipmunk far from your home where it is legal to do so
Seal entry points and remove food sources to prevent more chipmunks from returning
