Park on a flat, stable surface
Turn on hazard lights
Set the parking brake
Put the car in park or in gear
Place wheel wedges or blocks behind the opposite tires
Remove the spare tire, jack, and lug wrench
Remove the wheel cover or hubcap if needed
Loosen the lug nuts slightly while the tire is still on the ground
Position the jack under the correct lifting point
Raise the car until the flat tire is off the ground
Remove the lug nuts completely
Take off the flat tire
Mount the spare tire onto the wheel bolts
Hand-tighten the lug nuts
Lower the car until the tire touches the ground
Tighten the lug nuts in a crisscross pattern
Lower the car fully
Tighten the lug nuts again in a crisscross pattern
Reinstall the hubcap if applicable
Check the spare tire pressure
Store the flat tire and tools
Drive carefully and replace the spare with a full-size tire as soon as possible
