Turn off the water supply
Release any built-up pressure by opening the faucet
Locate the water filter housing or cartridge
Unscrew or unlock the filter housing
Remove the old filter
Clean the housing if needed
Insert the new filter in the correct position
Reassemble and tighten the housing
Turn the water supply back on
Check for leaks
Flush the new filter as directed by the manufacturer
