Turn the multimeter dial to DC voltage (V with a straight line)
Plug the black probe into COM
Plug the red probe into V
Touch the black probe to the battery negative terminal
Touch the red probe to the battery positive terminal
Read the voltage shown on the display
Compare the reading to the battery’s rated voltage
Remove the probes from the battery when finished
