How to Check for Cameras in a Room?

Inspect smoke detectors, clocks, USB chargers, power strips, air purifiers, and other small electronics for unusual holes or lenses

Look for tiny reflections from lenses using a flashlight at different angles

Check for devices that seem out of place, newly installed, or oddly positioned

Scan the room for blinking lights, indicator LEDs, or unusual wiring

Use a radio-frequency detector to look for wireless camera signals

Use a phone camera to check for infrared light in dark areas

Turn off the lights and look for infrared LEDs glowing on hidden cameras

Examine mirrors for suspicious placement or the “fingernail test” if concerned about a two-way mirror

Check vents, shelves, picture frames, plants, and decorative items for concealed devices

Review Wi-Fi network devices for unknown cameras or unfamiliar connected devices

Ask the property owner or host directly about any security devices in the room

If you find a suspicious device, do not tamper with it and contact the appropriate authorities or property management
