Park the vehicle on a level surface
Turn off the engine
Wait 5–10 minutes for oil to settle
Locate the dipstick (usually marked with a bright handle)
Pull the dipstick out
Wipe the dipstick clean with a lint-free cloth
Reinsert the dipstick fully
Pull it out again and check where the oil level sits between the MIN and MAX marks
Add oil if the level is at or below MIN (use the manufacturer-recommended oil type and viscosity)
If adding oil, add a small amount, wait a few minutes, and recheck with the dipstick
Do not overfill (stop at or below MAX)
Reinsert the dipstick fully and close/secure the cap if applicable
If the dipstick is dry or the oil level is very low, check for leaks and consider professional inspection
