Park on level ground
Turn off the engine
Wait a few minutes
Open the hood
Locate the dipstick
Pull out the dipstick
Wipe it clean
Reinsert the dipstick fully
Pull it out again
Check the oil level
Check the oil color
Add oil if needed
Recheck the level
Secure the dipstick
Close the hood
