How To Check Your GPA?

Find your school’s grading system and GPA scale (e.g., 4.0 scale, weighted vs. unweighted).

Collect your transcript or grade report for the term you want to calculate.

List each course and the grade you received.

Convert each letter grade to the corresponding grade-point value using your school’s conversion chart.

Multiply each course’s grade-point value by its credit hours.

Add all weighted grade-point totals together.

Add all credit hours for the courses included in the GPA calculation.

Divide the total weighted grade points by the total attempted credit hours.

If your school uses weighting, apply the weighting rules to eligible courses before calculating.

Check your school’s online portal (student information system) for your current cumulative GPA.

Verify whether your GPA includes/excludes specific courses (e.g., pass/fail, repeated courses, withdrawals, transfer credits).

If you repeated courses, apply your school’s repeat policy for which grade(s) count.

Confirm whether honors/AP/IB courses use weighted points.

Recalculate for the term GPA and cumulative GPA separately if needed.

Double-check units and included courses match what your school reports.

Save or screenshot the calculation and results for your records.
