Use a bright light and a fine-tooth lice comb
Part your hair into small sections
Check the scalp, especially behind the ears and at the nape of the neck
Look for live lice moving on the scalp or hair
Look for nits attached firmly to hair shafts near the scalp
Run the comb from the scalp to the ends of the hair
Wipe the comb on a white tissue or paper towel after each pass
Check the tissue for lice or nits
Repeat the process across the entire scalp
Check for itching, tickling, or sores on the scalp
Inspect eyebrows and eyelashes if needed
