Start with the author’s last name, first name.

Put the title of the text in quotation marks if it is a short work.

Italicize the title if it is a book, play, or longer work.

Include the title of the container if the text is part of a larger source.

Add the names of other contributors if needed.

Include the version, edition, or volume number if applicable.

Add the publisher’s name.

Add the publication date.

Include the page numbers if available.

Add the URL or DOI for online sources.

End with a period.

Use hanging indentation in the Works Cited entry.

If there is no author, use a shortened title in quotation marks.
