Unplug the waffle iron and let it cool completely
Remove any loose crumbs with a dry brush or paper towel
Wipe the plates with a damp, soft cloth or sponge
Use a soft toothbrush or wooden skewer to clean grooves and corners
For stuck-on batter, place a damp cloth on the residue for a few minutes, then wipe again
Clean the exterior with a damp cloth
Dry all surfaces thoroughly with a clean towel
Empty and wash the drip tray if the waffle iron has one
Avoid immersing the waffle iron in water
Avoid using abrasive pads, metal tools, or harsh cleaners
If the plates are removable and dishwasher-safe, wash them according to the manufacturer’s instructions
