Let the grate cool completely
Remove loose ash and food debris
Scrub with a grill brush or scraper
Soak the grate in hot, soapy water
Use a sponge or nylon scrub pad to remove residue
Rinse thoroughly with clean water
Dry the grate completely
Apply a light coat of cooking oil if needed
Reinstall the grate when clean and dry
