Spray EGR cleaner or throttle body cleaner on carbon deposits
Use a soft brush or plastic scraper to remove buildup
Clean the valve pintle and internal passages carefully
Clean the intake manifold EGR ports and passages
Clean the EGR cooler if equipped, following manufacturer guidance
Wipe away loosened carbon and cleaner residue
Replace damaged gaskets and seals
Reinstall the EGR valve and related components
Reconnect electrical connectors and vacuum lines
Reconnect the battery terminal
Start the engine and check for leaks or warning lights
Clear diagnostic trouble codes if necessary
Test drive the vehicle to confirm proper operation
