Disconnect the negative battery terminal
Locate the idle air control valve
Remove the air intake components if needed
Unplug the electrical connector
Remove the mounting screws or bolts
Take the valve off carefully
Inspect the valve and gasket
Spray throttle body cleaner or IAC valve cleaner on the valve passages and pintle
Use a soft brush or lint-free cloth to remove carbon buildup
Clean the mating surface on the throttle body
Do not soak the electrical part of the valve
Do not force the pintle or move it aggressively
Let the valve dry completely
Replace the gasket if damaged
Reinstall the valve
Tighten the screws or bolts securely
Reconnect the electrical connector
Reinstall the intake components
Reconnect the negative battery terminal
Start the engine and check idle operation
