How To Clean Espresso Machine?

Turn off and unplug the machine

Remove portafilter, baskets, and drip tray

Empty and rinse the drip tray and water reservoir

Wash removable parts with warm water and mild dish soap

Rinse all parts thoroughly and dry completely

Wipe the machine exterior with a damp cloth

Clean the group head with a brush

Run water through the group head to flush residue

Backflush the machine if it has a backflush valve

Use espresso machine cleaner for backflushing if recommended by the manufacturer

Clean the steam wand immediately after use

Purge the steam wand and wipe it with a damp cloth

Soak the steam wand tip if milk residue remains

Descale the machine according to the manufacturer’s instructions

Refill with fresh water and run rinse cycles after descaling

Clean the grinder and hopper if attached

Reassemble all parts once fully dry

Repeat daily cleaning after each use

Perform deeper cleaning weekly or as needed
