Preheat a waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions
In a large bowl, whisk together 2 cups all-purpose flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, 1 tablespoon baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt
In another bowl, whisk 2 large eggs, 1 3/4 cups milk, 1/2 cup melted butter, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients
Stir until just combined; do not overmix
Lightly grease the waffle iron if needed
Pour batter into the preheated waffle iron
Cook until golden brown and crisp
Remove the waffle carefully
Repeat with the remaining batter
Serve warm with syrup, fruit, whipped cream, or powdered sugar
