Turn off power to the air conditioner at the thermostat and breaker
Remove debris around the unit
Clear leaves, grass, dirt, and branches from the exterior
Remove the top grille or fan cover if needed
Vacuum loose dirt from the fins and interior
Straighten bent fins with a fin comb
Spray the coils with a coil cleaner
Rinse the coils gently with a garden hose
Clean the fan blades and interior surfaces with a damp cloth
Clean the drain openings and base pan
Reassemble all parts securely
Restore power after everything is dry
Keep the area around the unit clear regularly
