Unplug the toaster and let it cool completely
Remove the crumb tray, if your toaster has one
Empty the crumb tray into the trash
Shake the toaster gently over a sink or trash can to dislodge crumbs
Turn the toaster upside down and tap it lightly to release loose crumbs
Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth
Use a soft brush or dry pastry brush to clean inside slots
Remove stuck crumbs with a wooden or plastic tool
Clean the crumb tray with warm soapy water and dry it fully
Dry all parts completely before reassembling
Plug the toaster back in only when it is fully dry
