Use a compatible USB cable
Unlock your phone
Connect one end of the cable to your phone
Connect the other end of the cable to your laptop
On your phone, select the USB mode you want
Choose File Transfer or MTP to access files
Choose Photo Transfer or PTP to import photos
Choose USB Tethering if you want to share internet
Allow any permission prompts on your phone
Open File Explorer on Windows or Finder on Mac if supported
Check that the phone appears as a connected device
Safely eject the phone before unplugging the cable
