Make sure your Apple TV is powered on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iPhone, iPad, or remote app device
Open the Apple TV Remote in Control Center on iPhone or iPad
On iPhone X or later, swipe down from the top-right corner to open Control Center
On iPhone 8 or earlier, swipe up from the bottom edge to open Control Center
Tap the Apple TV Remote icon
Select your Apple TV from the list if prompted
Enter the four-digit code shown on your Apple TV screen if prompted
Use the on-screen remote to control Apple TV
To pair a physical Apple TV remote, hold it close to the Apple TV
Press and hold the Back and Volume Up buttons for about 5 seconds
Wait for the pairing confirmation on the Apple TV screen
If the remote does not connect, restart the Apple TV and try again
If using an iPhone or iPad, make sure Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled
If using a third-party remote, follow the manufacturer’s pairing instructions and Apple TV compatibility requirements
