Preheat the grill to high heat
Pat the steak dry with paper towels
Season both sides with salt and pepper
Lightly oil the steak or grill grates
Place the steak on the hottest part of the grill
Grill for 2 to 5 minutes per side, depending on thickness and desired doneness
Use tongs to flip the steak once
Move the steak to a cooler part of the grill if flare-ups occur
Check internal temperature with a meat thermometer
Remove the steak when it reaches your target temperature
Let the steak rest for 5 to 10 minutes
Slice against the grain and serve
