How To Cook Black Rice?

Rinse 1 cup black rice under cold water until the water runs mostly clear

Soak the rice for 30 minutes to 1 hour if desired

Add the rice to a pot with 2 to 2.5 cups water

Add a pinch of salt if desired

Bring to a boil over medium-high heat

Reduce heat to low and cover the pot

Simmer for 30 to 40 minutes until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender

Turn off the heat and let it sit covered for 10 minutes

Fluff with a fork before serving
