Do not microwave a whole egg in its shell
Crack 1 egg into a microwave-safe bowl or mug
Add enough water to fully cover the egg
Add a pinch of salt if desired
Pierce the yolk gently with a fork or toothpick
Cover the bowl loosely with a microwave-safe plate or lid
Microwave on medium power for 30 seconds
Check the egg and continue in 10 to 15 second intervals until cooked
Let it sit for 30 seconds before removing
Drain the water carefully
Season and serve
