Rinse the brown rice under cold water until the water runs mostly clear
Add the rinsed rice to the rice cooker
Add water using the brown rice ratio recommended by your rice cooker or about 2 to 2.5 cups water per 1 cup brown rice
Close the lid securely
Select the brown rice setting if your rice cooker has one
If there is no brown rice setting, use the regular cook setting and allow extra cooking time
Start the rice cooker
Let the rice finish cooking and then rest with the lid closed for 10 to 15 minutes
Fluff the rice with a fork before serving
