Preheat the grill to medium-high heat
Peel back the corn husks if keeping them on, and remove the silk
Soak husked corn in water for 10 to 15 minutes if desired
Brush the corn lightly with oil or melted butter
Season with salt and pepper if desired
Place the corn directly on the grill grates or keep it in the husks
Grill, turning every 2 to 3 minutes
Cook until lightly charred and tender, about 10 to 15 minutes
Remove from the grill
Add more butter, salt, or toppings if desired
Serve immediately
