Wash and peel the sweet potatoes, if desired
Cut them into even cubes or slices
Place them in a pot and cover with water
Add a pinch of salt, if desired
Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat
Reduce to a simmer
Cook until fork-tender, about 10 to 15 minutes for cubes or 15 to 20 minutes for larger pieces
Drain the water
Serve plain or season as desired
