How To Cook Tri Tip?

Pat the tri-tip dry

Trim excess fat if needed

Season generously with salt, pepper, and garlic powder

Let it rest at room temperature for 30 to 45 minutes

Preheat oven to 400°F or grill to medium-high heat

Sear the tri-tip on all sides until browned

Roast in the oven or move to indirect heat on the grill

Cook until the internal temperature reaches 130°F to 135°F for medium-rare

Remove from heat and rest for 10 to 15 minutes

Slice thinly against the grain

Serve immediately
