Open the application or file manager you want to use
Navigate to the folder where you want the file
Right-click in the folder and select New
Choose the file type you want to create
Enter a file name
Press Enter or click Save
Use a text editor or app to create a new file
Click File
Select New
Save the file with a name and location
Use command line tools if needed
Type the appropriate create-file command
Press Enter
