Drink water or an oral rehydration solution
Drink an electrolyte drink (low sugar if possible)
Eat something bland (toast, bananas, rice, soup)
Take a light snack with carbs and some protein
Rest and sleep as much as possible
Avoid alcohol “hair of the dog”
Avoid smoking and other drugs
Take a shower or use light stretching if tolerated
For headache: take ibuprofen or naproxen with food
For headache: take acetaminophen only if you have not been drinking heavily and you are not at risk for liver problems
Avoid taking acetaminophen if you’re still actively intoxicated or have significant alcohol use
Sip fluids steadily instead of chugging
Consider ginger tea or ginger supplements for nausea
Consider peppermint tea for stomach discomfort
If nauseated: take small sips of water and bland foods when you can
If vomiting continues: keep taking small sips of fluids
If symptoms are severe, last more than 24 hours, or include confusion, chest pain, trouble breathing, repeated vomiting, or fainting, seek urgent medical care
If you can, have someone check on you for safety
