Sip cold water slowly
Drink a full glass of cold water in one go

Swallow a teaspoon of peanut butter
Pull your knees to your chest while sitting and lean forward
Stimulate the back of the throat (carefully) with a spoon or cotton swab
Drink water through a straw while leaning forward
Eat slowly and avoid carbonated drinks and alcohol
Avoid sudden temperature changes in food or drinks
If hiccups last more than 48 hours, seek medical care
Seek urgent care if hiccups are accompanied by chest pain, shortness of breath, vomiting blood, severe headache, weakness, confusion, or trouble swallowing
